Cookies & More

GSUSA allows Girl Scout Councils to sponsor two commercial products programs per Girl Scout year. These programs support Girl Scout activities and provide opportunities for girls to learn valuable skills. By planning and participating in these programs, girls learn the value of teamwork and develop self-confidence. Through the revenue generated by these products programs, the Cahaba Council is able to continue to provide programs, volunteer training, and support to girls in the seven counties served.

The Cookie Program Activity

For over 70 years, Girl Scout Cookie activities have helped girls learn invaluable skills, such as decision-making, money management, and delivering on a promise. These activities are directly related to our mission of helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident, and resourceful citizens.

Each girl's participation in cookie activities is voluntary. Most Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior Girl Scouts enjoy the experience and look forward to taking part in these fun activities each year. Daisy Girl Scouts must wait until they are Brownie Scouts to sell Girl Scout Cookies. Adults must monitor, supervise, and guide the sale activities of all age levels, and girls always use the buddy system.

Fall Product Program Activity – Nut Sales

This activity provides troops with a great opportunity to earn proceeds to start the new Girl Scout year. These delicious nuts and candies make great gifts since delivery is before the holidays.

Benefits of Both Program Activities to Girl Scouts

Girl Scout Program Activities affect every girl involved in Girl Scouting in one way or another. All of the proceeds generated stay in the Cahaba Council to support Girl Scouting in our area, including the portion that goes directly to the troop/group selling the products. Proceeds earned are not the property of individual girls — they are distributed according to a Council plan to benefit all girls involved in Girl Scouting through program activities, Council resources and scholarship funds for girl program participation, service projects, and travel.

For more information on both program activities, contact Product Sales Manager Nicole Harris.
