Girls discover their personal best in Girl Scouts, strengthen values, and prepare for a positive future.

Girls 11-17

It's Great to be a Girl Scout!

This is an exciting time to be a teen Girl Scout, with lots of new ways to get involved. Being a teen means having fun, experiencing adventures, challenging yourself, taking trips, and reaching for success. What better place to do all of that than Girl Scouts?

Girl Scouts 11-17 (or grades 6-12) can experience in-depth skill training, exciting national and international adventures, make new friends, and sample a career. Girls, with their troop/group, plan the activities they want to do, and in doing so, experience personal and intellectual growth.

Age is a significant factor in determining what girls focus on as they move from the preteen to the teen years. However, the four program goals: become, belong, believe, and build, are meaningful to girls at all ages, and form the core of the program.

A new approach to Girl Scouting for girls 11-17 is STUDIO 2B, or they may continue to enjoy Girl Scouting through the traditional Cadette and Senior Girl Scout program. Girls and leaders/advisors are free to mix, match, and sample resources and ideas from both program approaches.

Cadette Girl Scouts, ages 11-14 and grades 6-9, prepare for their adult roles and may participate in national and international Girl Scout events. They may do intensive work on interest projects, explore careers, pursue community service and earn the Girl Scout Silver Award.

Senior Girl Scouts, ages 14-17 and grades 9-12, can explore group activities in arts, community action and career exploration. They also may work with adults and younger Girl Scouts in leadership roles, participate in national and international Girl Scout events and earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, Girl Scouting's highest national honor.
